Giannis Komitas joined National Energy in March 2022 as Chief Operating Officer. He brings 17 years of operational experience in industry and advisory roles. Giannis has a strong track record in leading teams and managing portfolios across different technologies and regions as well as route to market models. Giannis joins from Voltalia, the Paris listed IPP, where he was Head of Asset Management for the company’s UK solar and storage IPP portfolio. In his role, Giannis was responsible for the asset management strategy focusing on value creation and preservation. Prior to Voltalia, Giannis worked as Head of Operations and Asset Management for Euroenergy Investments, a private platform funded by the Libra Group, helping the company grow from zero to 350MW of operational wind, solar, and biogas assets in Greece, Romania and Latvia between 2011 and 2017.
Giannis’ earlier career was in the automotive sector working for Toyota Motor Europe in Brussels, managing supply chain engineering projects across Toyota’s European production and distribution footprint. Giannis’ industry experience is complemented by a 3-year tenure with EY-Parthenon’s Transaction Strategy and Execution team where he focused on delivering complex carve-outs, integrations and performance improvement projects. Giannis holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the National Technical University of Athens, an MSc in Supply Chain Management from Cranfield University and an executive MBA from London Business School. Outside work, Giannis enjoys long treks in nature, spending time with his family, and exploring off-the-beaten-track destinations.
Anastasios joined National Energy in December 2020 as a Senior Project Manager. In this role, he is responsible for the technical operations and maintenance of key portfolios of existing solar assets. He has twelve years of solar PV industry experience having worked across many solar PV projects in the US and in Europe spanning design, development, operations & maintenance, and performance optimisation of PV plants.
Previous project development roles held include Electrotechniki (Cyprus), Metka EGN (renamed Mytilineos RSD Business Unit), Yangtze Solar, and Aktor where Anastasios successfully developed ground-mounted solar PV portfolios and roof-mounted as well Greece, Turkey, Puerto Rico, and the UK with a total generation capacity of over 100MWp.
Anastasios holds a MSc in Electrical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece. When he is not in the office or on a solar site, he can be found enjoying a good read or experimenting with a new cooking recipe.
Myrto joined National Energy in August 2021 as a Project Coordinator. She oversees the Business Process Management platform to ensure tasks are moving ahead for on time and integrated delivery. She also supports the technical team across all projects to ensure that scheduling and budgetary targets are met and that reporting, invoicing and payments are coordinated efficiently and seamlessly.
Myrto brings eight years of project management experience across a variety of industries. ranging from Intralot,, a large Greek IT company that is a lottery vendor, to Strikos Power, a Greek construction company with presence in solar and railway projects.
Myrto holds a MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. She is member of the Technical Chamber of Greece. When Myrto is not working, she enjoys traveling, watching original TV series, and spending time with her friends and family.
Konstantinos joined National Energy in September 2020 as Senior Construction Manager. In this capacity, Konstantinos supervises the construction of solar projects from technical design to park energisation. He manages subcontractors and vendors, implements health and safety procedures, delivers quality and quantity assurance of equipment and materials, and ensures that works are installed on schedule and delivered as per budget. He brings over 26 years of site construction experience across many industries, notably with a deep expertise in the solar sector.
Konstantinos has a demonstrated track in solar having constructed 250MWp of projects in Greece, Northern Ireland, the UK and the Ukraine whilst in roles at Biosar Energy Ltd, Geometris UK Ltd and Power China Ltd. Additionally, Konstantinos managed the construction of the Athens International Airport (1996
Mike is one of National Energy’s first team members who joined in March 2020. He is part of the in-house legal team as Legal Counsel where Mike supports across all commercial and corporate affairs, M&A activities, project finance – structuring, compliance, and legal due diligence. Prior to joining National Energy, Mike trained with KLC, one of Greece’s top-tier law firms.
Mike holds a License de Droit, Maitrise de Droit and a Master of Laws from Université Paris XIII. His Masters’ thesis addressed «La Responsabilité et Groupes de Sociétés» investigating the liability of the mother company for the actions of its subsidiaries. In his legal studies, Mike specialised in corporate, commercial, and banking affairs. Out of the office, Mike can be found on the basketball court where he has been an avid player since the age of six, travelling with friends and on hiking adventures.
Despoina is the Office Manager and joined National Energy in July 2021. In this role, she ensures that day-to-day operations run smoothly, managed administrative tasks, ensures filings and documentation are up to date, ensures phone and email correspondence is managed expediently, and supports the management team. She brings six years of office administration experience to this role. Prior to joining National Energy, Despoina was the Executive Assistant to a CEO for a renewable energy company. A graduate of Cambridge University, Despoina holds a degree in English. Out of the office, Despoina can be found spending time with her four children, enjoying long beach walks, and decorating her new home.
Konstantinos joined National Energy as Accounting Manager in March 2021 and brings over twenty years of accounting expertise. In his role, Konstantinos manages the accounting and tax activities of the acquired portfolio of renewable energy entities having overseen the accounting for fifteen years whilst with his previous firm. Konstantinos is also responsible for preparing management accounts and oversees tax reporting and year-end audits. He has demonstrated experience across many industries including renewables, equity markets, tourism, commerce, and consumer goods and has had managerial roles at Hellenic Capital Partners and PCCW Global Ltd.
Konstantinos is a certified chartered accountant in Greek GAAP from the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus, School of Economics and Management. Additionally, his continuing education is ongoing as to keep accreditation in international accounting and financial reporting standards. When he is not analyzing financial ledgers, he can be found enjoying team sports and traveling across Europe. He has also become a coffee enthusiast since joining National Energy as the workflow grew in line with the company growth.
Angela joined National Energy in May 2021 as Finance Administrator. In this role, Angela tracks and manages the account revenue stream, liaises across divisions to ensure the smooth flow of financial deliverables and handles bank transactions and communication. She brings fifteen years of experience from the banking sector having held managerial roles at Pireaus Bank, Millennium Bank and Nova Bank. She also brings entrepreneurial experience as she launched an online Greek food delicatessen.
Angela holds a degree in Law from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and separately is a certified organizational coach who follows coursework in mindfulness, leadership and neuroscience. She is an avid tech enthusiast and an advocate for life-long learning. She relishes in travels to Copenhagen with her family and never tires of repeat visits to this city.
Georgia joined National Energy in March 2021 as Finance Administrator. In this role, Georgia is responsible for monthly invoicing, liaises across divisions to ensure the smooth flow of accounting deliverables and manages bank communication. She brings seventeen years of experience across a wide array of industries from construction to IT having held roles at Easy Systems SA, the Legal Offices of Frangakis and Artion SA.
Georgia holds a degree in English Literature from Deree College of Greece. She is a reading buff, closely monitors daily news feeds from around the world and is a green evangelist who follows her carbon footprint keenly.
Petros joined National Energy in July 2021 as an Accountant. In this role, he liaises with management by preparing financial status reports and is responsible for P&L statements, balance sheets and all financial transaction reporting. He brings seven years of accounting, budgeting and business modeling experience having held positions at Grant Thornton SA Accountancy and Hellenic Capital Market Commission.
Petros is a certified chartered accountant in Greek GAAP and holds a BSc in Industrial Management and Technology from the University of Pireaus and a MSc in Finance and Management from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. He is a Member of the Greek Chartered Accountants and a Member of the Economic Chamber. When out of the office, Petros is an avid marathon runner, enjoys Crossfit training and enjoys hiking in the Greek mountains.
Sébastien joined National Energy in July 2021 as Investment Manager. In this role, he leads National Energy’s Merger & Acquisition and investment opportunities, and is involved in the company’s strategic planning and execution. Operating from our HQ in London, Sébastien brings his investment banking experience in Natural Resources & Renewable Energy, and his expertise in financial modelling, project finance, M&A, and deal structuring. Prior to National Energy, he held roles as Associate Director at Invenio Corporate Finance (UK) and Finergreen (MENA) working on utility scale and C&I projects for tier-1 developers, conglomerates, and investment vehicles. He also acted as Principal in fundraising, project development, and M&A operations.
Sébastien holds a MSc in Finance from Imperial College London and a Master of Research in Sports Science from the University of Montpellier. He is a native of France and is an avid sportsman and a chess player.
Dimitris joined National Energy in August 2020 as Financial Analyst and brings 5 years of industry experience. He supports all aspects of company financial modelling, valuations, M&A, transactional due diligence and he leads the debt financing of all projects at the corporate level. Moreover, he collaborates across departments to produce forecasts for Financial Planning and Analysis across development, construction, operations, legal and finance.
Before joining National Energy, Dimitris worked in EY’s Transaction Advisory Services in M&A Lead and Valuations Modelling Advisory across the Power & Utilities, Oil & Energy and Infrastructure sectors. He started his finance career at Logismos S.A. as a junior analyst on the financial planning and reporting side.
Dimitris holds a BSc in Geosciences and a Master’s degree in Data Analysis and Environmental Protection from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He also holds two postgraduate diplomas in Finance and Business Analysis from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Outside the office, Dimitris is singer & music enthusiast and comes from a musical family. He has been leading a band for the past ten years as lead singer and musician and can often be found performing in live gigs. He also enjoys practicing hatha and vinyasa yoga, cross training and reading.
Keith joined National Energy as Group Financial Controller. He has been with the company since inception and understands the company ethos of delivering profitable renewable energy projects with a positive social impact. Keith oversees all commercial aspects of the business, commercial tenders, and financial controls. He is a Qualified Accountant who brings over three decades of seasoned, specifically 20 years in the energy sector.
Keith held senior head roles with blue chip FTSE100 companies across many business segments, managed the energy consumption for Heathrow Airport and O2 Telefonica and headed Belectric UK’s commercial team. While at Belectric, he led the team that successfully won the HSBC solar energy PPA which secured the power purchase for a 60MWp solar farm in 2015, the largest solar farm in the UK at that time. He also helped win two EFR tenders of the seven awarded by UK’s National Grid for large scale energy storage. He was also involved in issuing the first green bond for solar certified by the climate bond scheme. Keith enjoys spending time outdoors and can be found fishing, cycling, horse riding, and spending quality time with his family and two grandchildren.
Vassilis joined National Energy in March 2020 as Project Director and overseas the technical design, development and performance of the entire solar PV and wind portfolio. He oversees multiple and simultaneous technical operations and works closely with suppliers, sub-contractors, and energy regulators to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
Vassilis has a demonstrated track in solar PV technical design and installation, project licensing and permitting, tender development, energy auditing, and tariff modelling. He has twelve years of experience in renewable energy having developed more than 100MWp across several EU markets whilst in roles at Metka Egn (renamed Mytilineos RSD Business Unit), Synergia, and Aktor.
Vassilis holds dual MScs in Electrical Engineering and in Computer Science from the University of Patras and is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece. Outside the office, he enjoys exploring nature and discovering new beaches in Mani, Greece, the region of his origins as well as spending time bonding with family.
Giles Clark joined National Energy in early 2018 as CIO and is a highly seasoned solar executive and value investor. Given his deep industry expertise in renewable energy, Giles advises the company on strategic planning, especially across cross-border M&A activities. As a solar entrepreneur over the past 15 years, Giles has a long track investing across differentiated markets and at various stages of the solar value chain. He has executed over $2bn of successful solar transactions, representing more than 2GWp of project rights and project assets which returned significant value for underlying investors. He founded Primrose Solar in 2013 which acquired and built 253 MWp of solar in the UK, including three of the largest ground-mounted farms in the UK at the time – these businesses were successfully sold to Bluefield, Greencoat and Equitix in 2016. Previously, Giles founded Sunray Renewables in 2006 which developed a pipeline of 1.4GWp of utility-scale solar projects across southern Europe which was acquired by Sunpower in 2010 for $277m in cash.
Giles originally trained as an accountant at Deloitte having specialized in cross-border corporate tax. He is a PPE graduate from Brasenose College, Oxford University and holds an MBA with distinction from London Business School. He sits on several boards including the Gresham House Renewable Energy VCT 2 Plc. Giles was an early evangelist of clean energy and supports and promotes the company ethos of delivering profitable renewable energy projects with a positive community impact. He is an underwater enthusiast who enjoys encountering all forms of marine life and actively scuba dives having experienced over 150 underwater challenges.
Ignacio Esteve joined National Energy as Non-Executive Director in June 2021. He brings over 20 years of experience in the global renewable energy sector growing companies from start-up to maturity stage. Ignacio is currently a leading green hydrogen expert in Spain and is co-developing hydrogen projects from concentrated solar power via a joint venture with Nasdaq-listed Fusion Fuel Welcome (Ticker: HTOO) with Fusion Fuel Spain. This is one of Spain’s leading green hydrogen technologies, developing green hydrogen generation plants and green hydrogen service stations. Separately, Ignacio via META Energy Development is leading the development of 300MW of solar greenfield projects in a joint venture with a large London-based infrastructure fund.
Ignacio brings a demonstrated track record of successful outcomes of growing and selling businesses. In 2005, Ignacio founded Ynfiniti Engineering Services, a Spanish company which constructed, commissioned, operated and maintained more than 2000 MW international wind portfolio where he grew services revenues from €0 to €14m in 5 years, ultimately delivering an annual €1.5M profit. The company was recognized as one of the top three O&M wind services organizations in Spain. In 2010, the company was acquired by the Weir Group, a FTSE100 global engineering conglomerate with over 16,000 employees and €3bn of revenue providing safety, efficiency, and sustainability solutions. He was retained as CEO of Weir Group Spain in 2011 where he oversaw the integration and transition of rigorous governance and health & safety requirements of the acquired privately-owned company to meet the standards of a FTSE100 company. Previous senior roles include the deployment of an international network of companies in engineering inspection consultancy services for industrial clients at Bureau Veritas, founder of soil recovery projects at Advent Environmental and industrial engineering management at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.
Ignacio holds a BSc in Industrial Engineering and a MSc in Engineering Management both from Western Michigan University. Ignacio is a graduate from ESADE Business School, Board Members Program (2021) and IESE Business School’s PDD Executive Development Program (2003). Ignacio is passionate about minimizing the environmental impact of society and focuses his time in searching for technologies to improve it. His most enjoyable moments are family time and traveling with his family and discovering new landscapes and the diversity of people, food and culture.
Jimmy joined National Energy as Non-Executive Director in June 2021 and is interim acting COO. He has over 27 years in the power generation sector, with the last 15years within the renewables energy sector. Jimmy has a long track in the wind and solar sectors with extensive international experience. From 2013 to 2020, Jimmy held managerial roles with leading global IPPs including positions as EVP Global Head of Operations at Sonnedix, COO at Cubico Sustainable Investment, and Operations Director at Greencoat Capital LLP. He also held senior roles in the onshore and offshore wind sector at Vattenfall and Vestas. Jimmy has focused on building high-performance asset management, construction and engineering teams and has experience working both on the asset owner and asset operator side.
Jimmy provides adept renewable energy operational and governance advice to National Energy and is passionate about innovation and optimisation across the renewable asset management sector. He has been involved working in the transition to a clean energy world for nearly three decades and is actively mindful of his individual carbon footprint. Jimmy can be found spending time outdoors with his family in his native Sweden where he enjoys biking, fishing, and observing the pristine freshwater lakes and the surrounds biodiversity. He is a graduate of Lund’s Technical University and holds a BSc Power and Heat.
George joined National Energy since inception in 2019 and is Country Manager for Greece. He manages all aspects of country operations and is responsible for overseeing the portfolio of existing and growing renewable energy assets, covering origination, transaction, and contract negotiation. Further, he manages due diligence ensuring projects meet financing and technical requirements.
George brings over a decade of experience across investment, engineering, and project development. He was most recently with the UK-domiciled Ingenious Group from 2016-2018 as a Senior Investment Associate on the UK Alternative Investment Fund team. In this role, he worked on utility-scale infrastructure projects across district energy schemes, e-mobility, materials processing, and biogas generation. Notably, he helped structure and finance two of the UK’s first pre-treatment feedstock plants. George began his career in the UK where he engineered clean energy projects for ENGIE and SSE Plc, two of the UK’s leading generators of renewable energy and supplier of low carbon services.
George holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering & Aeronautics from the University of Patras and an MSc in Environmental Technology & Energy Policy from Imperial College London. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece. In his spare time, George enjoys a good read, spending time near the seaside and exploring Athens’s vibrant restaurant scene.
Alexios joined National Energy in June 2021 as a Senior Asset Manager. In this capacity, he manages the portfolio of all operating solar and wind assets with an installed capacity of 91MWp in Greece. He brings twelve years of experience from the renewable energy sector covering the design, development, construction and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of solar and wind assets. Previous managerial roles held include overseeing the construction of a 24MW wind farm, while also being part of the team responsible for the construction of a total of 49MW wind farms, and performance monitoring for a wind and solar portfolio of 76MW of installed capacity for Hellenic Capital Partners. Alexios draws previous asset and project managerial roles in the sector whilst at IBG Management.
Alexios holds a BEng from the University of Edinburgh in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, a MSc in Business Management from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and a MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems (Institute of Energy Systems) from the University of Edinburgh. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and a certified Safety Engineer. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking international cuisine and making the most out of family time.
